Master Peace, Edie Bens and Nectar Woode make Glastonbury Emerging Talent longlist

The acts that have successfully made the Glastonbury Festival Emerging Talent Competition long list have been announced.

Among the 90 long list acts are Master Peace, Edie Bens and Nectar Woode, who have been nominated by our co-editor and long list judge Joe Lepper.

They have been chosen from thousands of entries so well done to them and the rest of the long list entries.

All will now go forward to the next stage, where a shortlist judging panel will decide on which eight will perform at a live finals in Pilton, near the festival site, next month.

A mainstage slot and funding support from PRS for Music and the PRS Foundation are up for grabs for the winner, with funding also available for two runners up.

The full list of longlisters can be found here.

Here’s some more about Joe’s choices.

Nectar Woode is one of the best emerging voices in the UK soul scene. The London based artist’s vocals and song writing are timeless, evoking classic singers of the 1960s infused with a very modern feel. How it’s Gotta Be is a fantastically well-crafted song that really stood out for me. High profile fans include Elton John for good reason.

Meanwhile, Edie Bens’ strong song Poster Child is extremely radio friendly and incredibly already has almost 297,000 views on Youtube so is already appealing to many.

She backed up her entry with a strong live clip. Her string section and her pop savvy tunes would sound great from a main stage at the festival.

Another strong pop song on my list is Start You Up by Master Peace aka Peace Okezie.  Great vocals and that bass line is superb during the verse. He’s four EPs deep into his career which started seven years ago and has already impressed critics, winning a Rising Star Ivor Novello Award.

Good luck long listers!
