Glastonbury Festival Emerging Talent Competition: Problem Patterns make the final 8

The final eight acts to be shortlisted for the Glastonbury Festival Emerging Talent Competition have been announced.

These were selected by a shortlist judging panel from a 90 strong longlist chosen from thousands of entries by 30 music writers, including Neonfiller.com’s Joe Lepper.

We are delighted to announce that one of Joe’s three picks, Problem Patterns, has made the final.

They will join seven other acts to compete for a mainstage slot and a £5,000 talent development prize from PRS for Music Foundation. Two runners up also get £2,500 from the charity.

Here is what Joe had to say about Problem Patterns’ entry Letter of Resignation.

“Belfast four-piece punk band follow in the fine tradition of fellow Northern Irish act The Undertones, writing about   everyday life, and whatever makes them angry, through witty, tongue in cheek lyrics. Their 2023 debut album Blouse Club is garnering critical acclaim and their track Letter of Resignation is a particular standout. Who hasn’t wanted to say “you can’t fire me, I’m leaving” at least once in their life!”

The final eight also include Bryte, Caleb Kunle, JayaHadADream, KID 12, Nadia Kadek, Olivia Nelson and The Ayoub Sisters.

All their entries can be seen here.

Good luck in the future to all those who made the longlist, including Joe’s other two nominations Joe T Johnson and Natalie Lindi. Both are great prospects for the future.
