Glastonbury Festival 2025 Emerging Talent Competition launches

UK and Ireland based acts are being given the chance to compete for a place on one of the main stages at the Glastonbury Festival this year through its Emerging Talent Competition.

Details of the Somerset based festival’s annual search for the stars of the future have been released.

Acts of any musical genre can enter the competition. But they have just one week to do so.

Entry is via a form at the Glastonbury Festivals website from 9am Monday 27 January until 5pm Monday 3rd February.

We are delighted to also announced that our co-editor Joe Lepper is once again among a panel of 30 music writers to help compile a longlist of 90 acts.

This will then be whittled down to a shortlist of eight by judges, including Glastonbury Festival organisers Michael and Emily Eavis.

The eight acts will then compete at a live finals in Pilton to decide the winner.

In addition, the winners will be awarded a £5,000 talent development prize from PRS Foundation and two runners-up will also each be awarded a £2,500.

Last year’s competition was won by Jamaican-Irish rapper JayaHadADream.

Other acts to emerge from the competition include Mercury prize winning English Teacher, who was named a runner up in 2022. She Bangs the Drum and Declan McKenna are other former winners.

“We know how hard it is for new acts to take their first steps towards a career in music – particularly with the challenges facing small venues in this country – so the Emerging Talent Competition is a hugely important part of Glastonbury’s annual calendar,” said Emily Eavis.

“I can’t wait to hear the entries from across all the musical genres. And it’s free to enter, so you’ve nothing to lose.”
