Ever since hearing the track Antarctica, by Nottingham four-piece Divorce, I’ve been hooked.
This track is so full of wonderful melody, all laced with a perfect alt-country twang and slice of fiddle.
It sounds so American at times I was surprised to find out that they from the East Midlands.
However, it is no surprise to see Antarctica open their debut album, Drive to Goldenhammer, which is released this year. It’s a sure-fire way to hook in the crowd.
Fortunately, the rest of the album is great too. Packed with great tunes throughout.
Lord, has a hint of slide guitar, Fever Pitch is alt-country-Dinosaur Jr. And on tracks including Fever Pitch and Where Do You Go co-vocalist Tiger Cohen-Towell’s vocals are fantastic.
Divorce is one of the most intriguing of the UK’s newest bands and in Drive to Goldenhammer they have one of the year’s stellar releases.
