Feel good Greater Manchester band the Lottery Winners are back with a follow up to 2023’s Anxiety Replacement Therapy with Koko, another fine collection of sing along choruses and tales of survival.
Once again they’ve attracted a raft of musicians to join in the fun and introspection after Boy George, Frank Turner and Shaun Ryder helped out two years ago.
This time around Turner is back on Dirt and Gold, which is unsurprisingly one of the best tracks.
And there’s more with Nickleback’s singer Chad Kreoger, ’90s legends Shed Seven, and Reverend and the Makers on hand to help out. All their tracks are fine additions.
But my favourite is without the celebrities – its final track Keep On Keeping On, with perfect lyrics and vocals from singer Thom Rylance.
Co-vocalist Katie Lloyd is also great here. And both are on top form with album opener Superpower.
Here The Lottery Winners have thankfully taken an ‘if it ain’t broke, don’t fix it’ approach to this album, which offers up more of the same quality for fans of Anxiety Replacement Therapy in particular.
Their free form jazz phase is a long, long way off.
