Master Peace among Glastonbury Emerging Talent Competition finalists

The eight finalists in this year’s Glastonbury Festival Emerging Talent Competition have been revealed and we are delighted to say that Master Peace, one of three long-list entrants put forward by our co-editor Joe Lepper has made the shortlist.

Master Peace will now compete with Air Drawn Dagger, Ari Tsugi, Eli Dayo, Mali Hâf, Nat Oaks, Sarah Meth and Westside Cowboy for a main stage slot at the festival.

You can listen to the finalists here.

The winner will also be warded a £5,000 Talent Development prize from PRS Foundation to help take their songwriting and performing to the next level. Two runners-up will also each be awarded a £2,500 PRS Foundation Talent Development prize.

The eight acts were selected by Glastonbury judges from the longlist of 90 artists which was compiled by Joe and 29 other online music writers.

Start You Up by Master Peace aka Peace Okezie and his band, was among the standouts in Joe’s long list of entrants.

And the short list judges agree he is a standout too.

Great vocals and that bass line is superb during the verse. He’s four EPs deep into his career which started seven years ago and has already impressed critics, winning a Rising Star Ivor Novello Award. We can’t wait to see him at the live finals at Pilton later this month.

Good luck Master Peace and all the other finalists!
