How to describe Bob Logg III (aka Robert Logan Reynolds aged 57 ) to the uninitiated?
Well, think of a slightly younger Seasick Steve, sort of.
But instead of being influenced by more traditional blues legends, the likes of john Lee Hooker, Robert Johnson and Lightning Hopkins, Bob’s influences seem to be Antennae Jimmy Semens from Captain Beefheart’s classic line up (remind me to give Trout mask replica a spin, it’s been too long ), The Cramps and The Violent Femmes.
It’s a fun drenched gig in which Bob for the entirety of the show wears a mirrored crash helmet with a telephone receiver attached to it.
The vocals were suitably scratchy and distorted, he had behind him a fully inflatable dinghy for no discernible reason at all.
Bob Logg III also had a large rubber duck and at one point he filled it with a bottle of Prosecco that he’d bought from Asda earlier that day. He then encouraged us to drink from the duck as it was passed around.
As for the music it was just every slide guitar lick you’ve ever heard in your life for over an hour, slow, fast, extra fast and speed of light fast.
He literally is a one-man band, various percussive devices at his feet and a plethora of guitar magic gizmo boxes at his beck and call.
Free Toast
At one point Bob Logg III produces an orange two slice toaster and proceeds to open a white sliced loaf (presumably from the same Asda) he then employs a member of the crowd to make us all some toast all the while whilst he gave a virtuoso slide guitar performance. Go see him, you’ll have a great time and the toast is free!
