Bloc Party’s guitarist Russell Lissack has been bitten by a lion while on tour in South Africa with Ash.
Lissack was touring as guitarist with Northern Ireland’s Ash when he decided to visit an animal sanctuary with singer Tim Wheeler.
Details of how Lissack came to be so close to the lion have not yet emerged, but it is understood that the bite was not serious. And after being given a tetanus boost he was discharged from hospital.

According to Spinner, the hospital Lissack visited was sealed off shortly afterwards after the deaths of two men from a virus. The band were also involved in a car crash while they were in South Africa, but no one was hurt.
Ash are now back in the UK and preparing to promote their forthcoming release A-Z singles on October 11th.
