Kings of Leon Boast of Welsh Heritage

Family tree hobbyists The Kings of Leon are are delighted to find out they are descended from 18th Century Welsh settlers.

Bassist Jared Followill is particularly pleased and has even started replying to fans in Welsh.

Speaking on Twitter Jared said: “Finally found out where Followills came from.It was originally Followell and we came to Virginia from Wales in the 1700s. I’m Welsh. Cool.”

He replied to one Welsh fan asking for the band to come to Wales with “Diolch yn fawr. Falch o fod yma” – which roughly  translates as “Thank you very much. Proud to be here.” We guess he means ‘proud to be from Wales.’

Could a duet with Tom Jones now be on the cards?
